One of the world's most spectacular road trips, the Great Ocean Road hugs more than 300 kilometers of Victoria's dramatic coastline from Torquay to Allansford, near Warrnambool. Initially I was a little disappointed that our visit didn't co-incide with the blue skys and smooth seas I'd almost come to expect fromthe postcards but to be honest the intense stormy sky and roar of the surf is far more what this exposed shipwreck coast is all about, what ever the weather you encounter this part of the Australian coast is stunning.
It is only small - plan to spend about 45 minutes there but the surf memorabilia, surf movies showing all day long, and surf inspired play made visiting it a success for us. What was inspiring for me about this museum was the story of surfing - how what was a rogue sport not too long ago has influenced Australian and worldwide culture, become a multi-million dollar industry, and shaped tourism in Australia.
