One day the class ended 5 mins early so I went for the forbidden stairs only to see a masked man carrying a purse being chased by the principal and a karate teacher. I did not really understood what happened so I went upstairs and I saw kids running into my classroom and two more masked men searching the hall lockers (which actually were some small wardrobes). Some adult (did not managed to see him) saw me lost on the hallway and took me in my classroom and closed the door.youtube.com I did not see what happened afterwards as the teacher was trying to keep us away from the door. I don't have any friends from kindergarden and my parents have no idea about this event. Kinda trrigers me that I don't know for sure if it happened.
Media captionLanguage app Babbel got a big boost when the makers of hit TV show Narcos suggested a tie-up. Eleven years ago, one of Thomas Holl's closest friends, Lorenz Heine, wanted to learn Spanish. Thomas confidently assured him that there must be several easily accessible online spanish tutor reviews courses to assist him in this quest. But when Thomas turned to Google, the then 32-year-old software engineer was surprised by the sparse results. Thomas, who at the time was working on a music-mixing programme for DJs. But the journey from a loose concept scrawled on a wall of whiteboards in Berlin, to a global operation that works with the likes of computer giant Apple and video streaming service Netflix, was anything but straightforward. Thomas of himself and his three co-founders. Not one of the company's young masterminds had any background in teaching languages, and at first they simply tried to adapt existing course materials. Thomas, who is now the company's chief strategy officer.
I moved states on a whim. My good friend and producer called me in a panic when I was abroad saying that one of our main donors and his good friend was in an emergency situation. Her husband of three years and father of her toddler twins was breaking her property, putting holes in the wall, and locking her out of the house while she was wearing just her underwear when his mood grew sour. For her, this situation was unlivable and inexcusable. I vehemently agreed, and the timing seemed perfect. I had quit my job and temporarily moved abroad to further my education, and I was due back around the time she felt that he could safely be transitioned out of the house.
I returned home, packed my car with my belongings, and made the drive to a new state and new home. And her husband was still sleeping in their living room with her and the kids. He didn't want to be in a shitty motel. Fortunately, he is a contractor who had a month-long job coming up which would take him to another state. He was gone through the week, and I got to work on their home. Although my contract just requested assistance helping the kids at night, I helped her get organized and clean to reduce dust and dander in the home to help reduce the twins respiratory issues.
I cooked healthy food that they were welcome to eat. I sang to the babies. I cleared two junked rooms so they now had a guest bedroom and a sleeping room instead of camping in the living room. And I picked up after her husband who was continually allowed back in the home on weekends. After two weekends, we would have a weekly incident. The first time, I was called home from a date and had to quickly rush back because her husband had locked himself in the kids' room with their shoes and backpacks that they used for their walks. I calmed the kids down and took them away from the stress and drama and gave them lots of love and Spanish lessons.
The second time, he again locked himself in the room and yelled into a pillow scaring the kids. I again had to cut my night off short and rush home to remove the kids and give them love and Spanish lessons. The third time, he locked himself in the room with a gun and threatened to blow his head off. The weapon was not disclosed to me until afterwards, but I was woken up to distract the crying babies and get them out of the house. That third time seemed to be the final straw for the mom, and she told him that if he flew out to Hawaii for a work trip over the weekend, that was it.
No more. Well, he flew out, and came right back into the house. A couple of days later, they did MDMA together and decided to stay united. In fact, the family was going to move out of their current apartment and into a trailer so they could all go with the husband a state over for his next contracting job. This I didn't find out until I was leaving to go back home for my brother's wedding. Did all of my skills and work not matter? How did I become a servant subject to shitty treatment and an awful living environment?
The contract and pay stipulations were continually negotiated and renegotiated with the couple going back and forth multiple times a day. The house became a gross, disorganized mess again as I refused work without pay. Days later, I was advised to hold up my end of the contract and work so that I could show good faith on my end if I needed to sue them. I spent hours organizing, cleaning, and documenting. I was offered a proposition: Move in three days, get paid, and have no more tenancy claims. I found a good, safe home and confirmed it, and then signed an agreement to leave in three days.
I worked my new job nights, packed during the day, and took my belongings to the new home. I couldn't officially move in for ten days, but I could store things in the garage and stay with a friend. I felt positive. I worked 12 hours a day, worked out, and slept. Rinse, repeat for three days. My future landlord requested some documents two days ago as I was going in for work, and I forgot until the next morning as i was waking up. I sent him the requested information and received a text. With my heart pounding, I called him and was immediately met with anger and sass.
He told me that I needed to get ahold of him sooner. I didn't provide the documents sooner. Judging by my license, I am young and inexperienced, so I don't know how these procedures go. I swallow my pride and calmly explain that all formal and informal dealings has been done through his property manager, my future roommate. I don't know what I don't know, and if anything specific are to be handled through him, I will do so from then on. He quickly calmed down and said that he would draft the six-month lease. I asked for clarification as I thought it was month-to-month (but I have no problem with it being six months), and he again became irate and said this wasn't a charity house or AirBnB, and he didn't need my money.
I am young and ignorant, and I should know the terms exactly since it was stated in the ad. Shocked by his assholery, I called the roommate to explain the situation and relay my disbelief. Neither he nor his neighbor have ever seen this side of the landlord. They're baffled by the way he treated me.youtube.com I am shocked at having been spoken so rudely to. I am sad that I have to again search for a suitable home. I don't know what I did wrong, but I am learning that most people are not good, loving, kind, and wanting the best for me.
I am so gentle and sweet, which may be why others will try to take advantage and then act surprised when I stand up for myself. Yesterday was the first time in two weeks that I've cried and lost sleep over this whole situation. I moved out of my home state to start a new life, and these roadblocks really do suck. I guess I posted to get this off of my chest and perhaps have input from others. I'll happily fill in whatever blanks are missing. Tl;dr- I moved out here 7 weeks ago to help a family transition to separation and instead was transitioned rather roughly out of the home after their reconciliation. Finding a safe, sane landlord has been hard.
